After over 15 years of helping people design and furnish their Algarve homes we have built up an extensive portfolio. Perhaps more interesting (and arguably more relevant) is our more recent work. Trends, fashions, even styles, come and go in the furniture world but we remain consistent in the quality we deliver.
At Casa e Jardim we appreciate furniture for it’s quality whether it be classic or contemporary in form.
We have the fortune to have clients with diverse tastes and styles. This is depicted in the furniture we supply.
Here is a selection of what we have been doing during 2015, both in the shop and for our clients. It gives an insight into the variety of our furniture and the adaptability and flexibility of our services.
October saw the 2015 Homeing Exhibition. This was the first exhibition of it’s kind held at the beautiful Convento do Beato in Lisbon. Typically this kind of exhibition has been held in Porto at the Exponor fair halls.
Homeing 2015 was pure interior design and home living and Casa e Jardim was there to support the trade fair.
The Convent do Beato is an historic building now hosting social and trade events and for an interiors trade fair it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting.
The trade only event consisted of 50 manufacturers and suppliers mainly in the soft furnishing and fabric categories.
Many of our favourites were displaying including Newestofo, Romo, Giferant, Sirgaria Castro, Damascene & Antunes and Porto Oriente.
We were very pleased to meet representatives from Botaca. At Casa e Jardim we have long been fans of Botaca’s T.Time range and they had some pieces on display.
We liked it enough to order some pieces for the shop showroom.
It’s not the best image but space to take it was tight. Taken at a 2015 exhibition in Birmingham (UK) this sideboard is part of a relatively new collection from our favourite classic furniture manufacturers Provence. The new range is truly stunning and interest was high. Cherry wood has never looked this good!
We are now regularly sending Provence furniture to England as the UK market is embracing the quality and diversity of handmade Portuguese furniture.
Temahome shelving is proving popular as a contemporary and relatively economical way to create a free standing bookcase or room divider.
We recently supplied and assembled this 4 section Delta unit for a client in Vale do Lobo.
The Tema home website http://www.temahome.com/en/ has a plethora of bookshelf ideas.
We supply Temahome furniture at typically 10% below their listed prices and we include free delivery and assembly Algarve wide.
Having delivered a Dune modular sofa last week (see below) this week we’ve delivered a similar modular configuration but the model is Faro from our flagship ‘LaSofa’ range.
The Faro is a great value sofa. Light and contemporary yet solid and comfortable.
The sofa chosen comprised a 5 seater unit and a 3 seater unit locked with a corner unit module. Fabric is a dark grey ‘Renforce’, quite coarse yet soft to the touch.
Full details here.
We always thought the Dune sofa by Temahome was an ideal tv/cinema room sofa and our client in Vilamoura obviously agreed with us.
The arrangement consists of two groupings: 8 armless modules with two corner modules for the main cinema screen, and two armless modules between two corner modules for the video gaming tv area.
Both arrangements are complimented with a pair of pouffes.
The ‘Track anthracite’ fabric is trending in contemporary interiors and provides an economical, hardwearing and comfortable fabric solution.
Dune sofas modules start at €430 and a simple sofa can be made from 2 corner modules featuring 8 back cushions for only €860. Full details here.
We recently delivered this stunning set of Arc patio furniture to a house in Vale do Lobo.
Teak is back in vogue in 2015 and cleverly ‘Point’ have used it in a minimalistic way combining their extremely durable synthetic rattan with Teak legs. This ensures maintenance is kept to an absolute minimum and elevates large wooden surfaces being sun exposed.
Needless to say the client was delighted. Now all is needed is one of our great value exterior carpets to being the ‘indoors out’.
We are currently supplying some Vitra Eames chairs for a small project in Quinta do Lago.
Vitra is a Swiss company that excels in contemporary furniture design and has a number of classic pieces including the Eames chair.
Designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1950 the chair has become a furniture icon and more recently a trend.
Below are the Vitra chairs, now supplied (lead time was 4 weeks).
The chairs look absolutely fantastic paired with one of our Expormim tables in white with a Kerlite porcelain top.
Licensing prohibits us from selling Vitra chairs as a shop product however we can sell them as part of an interior project, at very competitive prices, and no job is too small!
Ideal for a children’s room or a twin room in need of an occasional spare bed the ‘Nido’ features a slide out mattress on sprung slats.
Hidden away the effect is essentially that of a divan base.
Here’s one we made for a house in Vale do Lobo recently. The client choose a fabric with matching headboards.
“ Indeed we are pleased to see that it really fits there !
Thanks a lot for the quick delivery ! .”F Sierens
As more and more of our clients are choosing contemporary furniture for their Algarve homes we are increasing our selection of modern lines.
We have now included the beautiful furniture from Spanish manufacturers Expormim as one of our main lines.
Our website now features this furniture and we have examples from their ranges on display in our showroom.
The TV Unit above we delivered to a client in Vale do Lobo is a typical example of the quality and great design of Expormim.
Mistral unit 2.80cm, with two drawers in white lacquer, €1507.
Available in multiple sizes and finishes starting at €870.
We would like to thank you for your help guidance and patience during the last six months. You have interpreted our drawings and ensured that P&M have correctly manufactured the custom made units. You have steered us to a range of well coordinated fabrics. The settees that you have recommended are very comfortable, Belar and P&M make quality well made furniture.
You have installed the furniture and curtains while we were back in the UK and presented us with a very pleasant surprise each time we returned to our apartment.
Many thanks to both you and Rick for all the hard work, it is much appreciated. We are very happy with the whole project and we would have no hesitation in recommending you to prospective clients.”P & C Linforth
Here’s an image depicting 4 ways of how we can help you dress your windows at Casa e Jardim.
We have an in-house Atelier an we make and fit curtains and blinds to the highest standard.
For a client in Vale do Lobo we created beautifully made lined curtains with matching roman blinds using a fabric from ‘Harlequin’.
Daytime privacy was provided using voiles on a double rail.
The office desk was shaded from the southern aspect using a simple roller blind.
“More than happy with my new bespoke exterior cushions”T Skinner
What an amazing backdrop for this stunning new range of furniture from Algarve garden. Cube is a coated aluminium frame with platted ‘Fibretex’ upholstery and thick Dralon cushions. Table tops come with stone effect scratch resistant tops. The backdrop is Salinas at the Encosta end of Quinta do Lago.
For clients with specific needs we will happily adapt standard dimensions or even build furniture to plan.
Here are two examples of bespoke ‘desks’ made entirely from clients drawings:
Left - Our Classically styled Provence range was used as the basis of a bookcase with integral desktop and printer cupboard.
Hand-made in Cherry wood and finished in matt lacquer this is Portuguese furniture at it’s best.
Below - A more contemporary take on the living room desk was created for a client in Vale do Lobo by P&M, including a matching mini chest of drawers on wheels.
In early May we delivered two orders that included bespoke tv units made to the clients specifications……
Both tv units were made in our own P&M furniture range. Both units were finished in black lacquer and both were substantial pieces of furniture.
Above - A 380 cm unit for an enormous basement cinema room in Vilamoura. The equally proportioned sofa is formed from 10 modules of ‘Dune’ from the Temahome sofa range. This is a very economical solution for a great looking and comfortable contemporary sofa.
Below - Designed by our client this 2 metre unit is 100 kilograms of quality mdc with 5 coats of black lacquer. Wall mounted it forms part of an eclectic selection of P&M furniture all made to measure for the customer.
We have recently supplied further chairs of this remarkable patio furniture to some clients of ours in 'Vale do Lobo', and what more fitting location for this tribally inspired pattern than the 'Valley of the Wolf'.
Designed by Joaquinn Homs for Point garden Furniture this hand woven tribally inspired pattern is available in either vibrant green or red, and features tall back chairs, giant armchairs, side tables and even a sun bed.
For 2015 we have added some alternative exterior ranges including an ‘economical’ range.
Whilst we are huge fans of ‘Point’ garden furniture at C&J we appreciate that it may not be to everyone’s budget.
For 2015 we have introduced new suppliers that can offer an economic alternative to Point but still maintain a high quality product and an efficient lead time with bespoke cushion colour options.
‘Algarve Garden’ is a range of patio lounge and dining furniture that provides a low cost solution whilst retaining a degree of style and reasonable quality.
The ‘Gardini’ range is a mid-priced, high quality alternative to Point, with great style and an impressive 5 year structural guarantee which indicates it’s calibre and suitability for the harsh Algarve sunlight.
The ‘Cube’ range (left top)
Rattan strips woven onto on an aluminium frame. Part of the Algarve garden range that includes exterior lounge furniture, dining sets and loungers.
The ‘Messina’ range (left bottom)
High quality rattan furniture with an unbeatable 5 year guarantee.
Part of the mid-priced ’Gardini’ collection at Casa e Jardim for 2015.
Wood is back…
Teak is back in 2015. Most of the big names in quality exterior furniture are using Teak in their new lines.
At Casa e Jardim we’ve never been the biggest fans of Teak for exterior use. Whilst we love wood, the Algarve intense sun isn’t wood friendly unless you are prepared to maintain it regularly.
Garden furniture manufacturer ‘Point’ has cleverly used Teak minimally in the structure (legs and arms) whilst retaining the durable rattan for the main surface areas. Hence you can have the beauty of wood with a minimum of maintenance (an occasional wiping with teak oil).
The ‘Round’ range (left top)
Rattan seats on a wooden frame. A Stunning dining set by Point. Round includes lounge and dining sets.
The Arc range (left bottom)
Similar to ‘Round’ in construction mixing wood with rattan.
Arc includes lounge and dining sets.
We have an arc dining set in the Casa e Jardim showroom on display.
Bookcases by Temahome…
We’ve recently added a number of Temahome bookcases to the shop at Casa & Jardim. We are using them as showroom dividers but they’re equally a great way of displaying the diverse range of bookcases we have available from Tema.

The new 'Calçada' fabric range by Evo from 'Damaceno & Antunes' caught our eye recently.
We've made a feature area of it at the Casa & Jardim showroom.
‘Calçada Portuguese’ is the traditional cobble stone paving found throughout Portugal. The fabrics in this collection emulate the feel and pattern of Calçada beautifully.
